Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue this week proposed a sales tax exemption for materials and equipment used in the construction of biofuel facilities in Georgia. Another company that could benefit from the tax incentives is Xethanol which recently purchased a former Pfizer pharmaceutical manufacturing complex to construct a 50 million gallon per year cellulosic ethanol plant in Augusta, Georgia. (see previous post)

I think it is a wonderful idea to offer incentives to companies promoting biodiesel intiatives. We are trying to educate truckers on the benefits and availability of biodiesel at our annual Truckers’ Conference. We invite Industry leaders to join our effort by attending and presenting a seminar that will allow truckers and business owners to leave with a better understanding of the benefits to switching over to biodiesel. We are considering moving our conference, which is now held in Florida, to Georgia as early as May of 2008. Would appreciate some feedback.
