Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns mentioned this mighty machine in his remarks to the Advancing Renewable Energy Conference on Wednesday.
It’s called the BioMax and it is a prototype combined heat and power system developed through the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and USDA Forest Products Laboratory. The machine is “transportable, fully automated, and environmentally friendly” suitable for small businesses, rural homes and schools.
The process gasifies wood chips, or other biomass, and produces 15 kW of electricity.

DEAR SIR:
I READ ABOUT BioMax MACHINE FROM A LOCAL NEWSPAPER HERE IN THE PHILIPPINES YEARS BACK AND I KEPT A CUT OUT OF THAT NEWS.
NOW THAT I AM RETIRED AND TENDING MY OWN COCONUT FARM IN THE ISLAND OF SARANGANI, I SAW THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS MACHINE AND HENCE THIS LETTER.
WE DO NOT HAVE ELECTRICITY IN OUR ISLAND BUT WE HAVE ABUNDANT SOURCE OF FUEL, COCONUT HUST WITH OUT THE SHELL IS JUST BEING THROWN INTO THE SEA.
PERHAPS WE CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS OR MAYBE DUPLICATE WHAT YOUR COMPANY HAS DONE IN ALAMINOS,MADALAG, AKLAN HERE IN THE VISAYAN REGION OF THE PHILIPPINES.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW TO RPOCEED WITH THIS IDEA. I AM WILLING TO CONNECT YOU WITH THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT SO “WE CAN START THE BALL ROLLING”..
THANK YOU AND BEST REGARDS,
ALLAN C. TECSON
