Ethanol Boom to Continue in 2007

Business Week reports that the ethanol industry appears poised for another big year in 2007, as companies scramble to take advantage of continuing government subsidies and a growing political desire to reduce the country’s dependence on foreign oil.
But Wall Street investors who went pedal-to-the-metal during ethanol’s midyear IPO frenzy seem to be easing off the accelerator upon warnings of volatile commodity prices and a potential oversupply down the road.

Hello Cindy,
Wall Street is concerned, not about the public at large.
All the land this country holds in soil bank can and could be used to grow grains to GET US off Foregin oil. How many millions of acres is the Govt paying for farmers not to produce. A shortage only if the land is not freed up without GVT, miss handeling and the graff that goes along with it.
I sincerly belive this country has enough available land that could be used for this purpose. Tobaco buy outs, what are they growing in place of it?
Some checking I belive at the Dept of Agriculture would probably be an eye opener as to how many millions of acres are in soil bank.
Wall street only worries if they can’t drive prices and gouge the consumer.
Please doing some checking on soil bank USA and STATE programs. shortage only because farm subsubsities are inflating an artificial price while they are paid not to over produce.
John
