Chris

I have been looking at this for some time now. If you have any noticeable mileage loss with E10, I wouldn’t be questioning the 10 percent ethanol but what makes up the 90 percent gasoline. In every SAE paper I have, ethanol has shown to be more efficient then gasoline when simply adding ethanol. Not enough to overcome the BTU difference but still more efficient. If you are finding more than 2 or 3 percent mileage difference comparing E10 to E0, find another gas station.

This study is so full of crap it makes me want to puke.

My Geo Metro Lost 9mpg with E10
My Clubwagon lost 7mpg going from 20mpg to 13mpg
My jeep went from 24 to 16-17
My Minivan hurt me the most going from 28mpg to 20mpg

These low values are NOT because of the lower energy BTU in alcohol. they are because there vehicles are FLAT OUT incompatible with alcohol based fuels. THEY CAN NOT PROPERLY BURN THEM.

put D10 in your car (10% diesel) let me know how it goes. but wait Diesel has MORE BTU's so why did your mpg's not go up?

easy. your engine CAN NOT properly burn diesel.
