Here in Papua New Guinea, esp. along the coastal provinces, sago is the staple food for many. after the felling, splitting, and removing the starch, the sago is washed and the filtered. the filtrate is collected and stored and white edible sago is then collected. traditional methods of preparing and eating sago are very common. it would be most beneficial if more research is done into the production of ethanol from sago and introduced to the villagers as they would surely make use of such an opportunity as sago palms are something every man has in abundance.

thanks,
Andy...(Port Moresby)
