Montana Senator Tester Supports EPAC

Montana’s Senator Jon Tester is in support of domestic fuel and Ethanol Producers and Consumers (EPAC). The U.S. Senator is a third generation Montana farmer who understands the value of agriculture to Montana’s economy and way of life. His Field Director Tracy Stone-Manning presented a letter at the recent EPAC conference in Kalispell, Montana:

Thank you all for your hard work in one of the more important efforts of our time — securing America’s energy independence.

Senator Jon TesterIt’s not just an energy issue. It’s a national security issue. And EPAC plays an important role.

I had the honor of sitting down with Shirley [Shirley Ball is the executive director of EPAC] in the Senate just last week. We discussed all the new opportunities for biofuels in Montana — and the economic growth and good-paying jobs it will bring. Opportunities for biodiesel, cellulosic ethanol, and ethanol from barley, among others.

We still have a ways to go. We still have to dial in, for expample, the right enzymes to break down cellulose. But I am confident we’ll get there. Montana is an agricultural powerhouse and we can and should lead the way in our energy future.

As a member of the Senate Energy Committee, I look forward to hearing what comes out of this conference.

Again, thanks for your hard work. And stay in touch.

Respectfully,
Jon Tester
United States Senator

I am surprised at the fact that the majority of the bloggers here think that it is OK for the Oil Companies to make Huge profits for the same product. That they have been making for years telling us the same things again and again and getting away with it. Exxon alone for the first quarter of 2008 had a net (not gross) profit
of over 10 billion dollars. They have told us in Early 1980′s we had a shortage of oil, The same people told us the same in 2000, 2005, and now 2008. Folks, believe what you want, but at least read between the lines, If you had a spouse that constantly told you that they were not being unfaithful, but yet they were caught with someone else more than once, wouldn’t you be at least suspicious of something going on?

They tell us CO2 emissions from cars are bad, so they’ve raised the price of fuel.
Who stops the Volcano’s from erupting!
It is a proven that one volcano eruption
emits more CO2 into the atmosphere than all of the cars in the United States combined, So why should we suffer.
create an alternate fuel source. (we have them us them) Think of it, the only reason we have soaring fuel prices is to line pockets with OUR HARD EARNED MONEY!

Then they tell the media to print something positive about high fuel prices.
(Less Traffic deaths with higher fuel cost)
But nothing about Hurricane deaths from people that could not afford to fuel up their cars to evacuate! People wake up!
In my business I have to us a truck and a trailer, to go from town to town. I can’t get a tiny car to save on gas. My customers can’t pay more just because Exxon wants more money from me. It’s just not right.
Then I would be just the same as Exxon, raising the price of my product just because Exxon wants more money!
