Their arrogance in seeking control over private forestland owners will set them outside of the debate. If they owned land and practiced forestry for profit they would be on the right side. Take away or limit a private landowners ability to gorw and manage forests for the highest return and you will force them to sell off as real estate and then you get one final harvest for eternity. They will fear this will reduce control over harvesting methods, particularly to the extent any of the private lands aren't in designated forest stewardship programs. That will be a shame indeed if worries about losing absolute control over every last acre of forest land ends up detracting from the greater renewable energy good.
