The average outflow of U.S. wealth during this time has been about $700 billion per year. Now we are appalled to hear that our government has recently paid Brazil $billions to drill for oil in that country. While all of this has been going on, our political leaders have invoked the "national security" threat for several reasons... one of which is an over reliance on foreign oil, a direct result of our own government. Well-meaning, patriotic people continue to allow themselves to be led by these very political "leaders." Why, I don't have a clue. Sometimes I think the American people are just lemmings, willing to march in lockstep off a cliff behind anyone who has agreed to do their thinking for them.
