California Smog Check providers fail millions of cars but Chief Sherry Mehl, DCA/BAR, has never found out if what is broken on a Smog Check failed car gets fixed

* * A random ‘Smog Check’ inspection & repair 'secret shopper' audit, ethanol cap and elimination of dual fuel CAFE credit can cut California car impact over 50% in 2010. (Prevent Over 2000 tons per day of sulfur, PM, HC, O3, NOx, CO & CO2.) Improved performance of AB32 at reduced cost. (support H.R. 1207

RE: Sierra Research Report SR 2007-04-01

Dear Mr. Governor

California Air Resources Board (CARB) and The Department of Consumer Affairs/ Bureau of Automotive Repair DCA/BAR have contracted with Sierra Research for a Report of Smog Check performance.

Sierra has informed me the report was final in March 2009 and released to CARB.

CARB, BAR, IMRC, and the California Legislature are using the Report for public policy but refusing to release the publicly funded Report.

Mr. Governor, I’m confused, can you refer me to someone who might help?

BIG oil is moving my money to the profit of big oil by using food in my gas tank.

California is reported to use 2000 gal of water to grow california corn for 1 gal of fuel ethanol.

Does Paul Jacobs, chief of enforcement for mobile sources for the California Air Resources Board want Porsche crushed at 10 years or 100,000 miles which ever comes first, not just Porsche but all makes and models?

California Smog Check providers have been questioned about a Sierra Research ‘Forty Nine Percent Refail Report’ Reporting a possible 50% fraud rate, Smog Check providers fail millions of cars but Tom Cackette officer of CARB and Tom Austin (Sierra Research) use the information to justify public policy but refuse to release the tax dollar funded report. http://www.imreview.ca.gov/correspondence/governor_49percent_report_8.25.09.pdf

Should Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger consider a "fee" on corn fuel ethanol use? Lower price for food, gas, water, beer and cleaner air… and… funds for the budget from oil profit

What's the big push for ethanol. Why is ethanol being presented as an "alternative"? It isn't an alternative if it is mandated by EISA, EPA and the federal government. I want the option to use 100% gasoline. It is, and will continue to be, the lowest cost form of energy available. Ethanol is wasteful when one considers the life cycle cost of getting it from seed to the pump. It is MORE of a polluter, and when factoring in the reduction in performance in internal combustion engines, there is no net decrease in petroleum consumption. This is one of the biggest scams being perpetrated on the American people, second only to man-made global warming. Go ahead and burn E85 if your vehicle is designed for it, but E10 is as far as it should go for the rest of us, and E0 will always be my preference.

BIG OIL and BIG FOOD are fighting the little guy.

This is the problem with BIG. There needs to be more competition.

BIG MONEY has BIG lobbyists.

We need more competition for BIG OIL from small ethanol plants.

If there ever is another oil embargo or a price spike to $150 / barrel people will bee glad to see some choice at the pump.

Support E85, biodiesel, flex, CNG, and other alternatives at the pump.

Auto manufacturers need to produce more flex fuel vehicles large and small and there needs to be more E85 pumps at fueling stations.
