Iowa Indy Race Spotlights Corn Ethanol
The only Indy race to still run on homegrown corn ethanol is just around the corner. The 2010 Iowa Corn Indy 250, presented by Pioneer, will once again showcase 100% race powered corn-ethanol during the 4th annual race in Newton, Iowa on June 20.
2010 Indy 500 winner Dario Franchitti won the very first Iowa Corn Indy in 2007, when the series first started using 100 percent ethanol. He says Indy’s transition to ethanol was a winner. “It was a big deal for us when we first switched over to ethanol,” he said during an Indy racing press conference Monday. “We’ve had tremendous success as a series with ethanol and had a really seamless transition. It’s just been a real win-win situation for the IndyCar Series.”
The Iowa Corn Indy 250 has been a win-win for Franchitti, who won it again in 2009. He hopes to be able to take home a third fuel-pump designed trophy this year.
The Iowa Corn Indy 250 is presented by Pioneer, with support from the Iowa Corn Promotion Board and the Iowa Corn Grower’s Association. It is the only Indy race this year to run on corn ethanol, since Brazil’s ethanol industry has taken over sponsorship of the series and provides fuel for the rest of the races.

You have to wonder do you not about the EPA dragging its heels over the problem of 10% to 15% Ethanol quotas. After all the news as to how its helping the economies not only of the rural sector, but the national economy as well, not to mention the urgent need to distance ourselves from dependence of middle east oil and by extension the terrorist threat. So when you sit down and ask yourself whats their motive, we have guys who tell you they have disobeyed the edict and have fueled their cars with 100% Ethanol, one guy has done it for 9 years, so theres a lot of disinformation out there.
The only conclusion one can draw is the whole EPA, government etc has been hijacked and is in the hands of big oil, my sujestion is complete and utter disobedience of the 10% edict, fill up as much as you want to and to hell with the government bodies telling you what to do, its your car, so what if you have to replace a few washers, your running on cheep home grown fuel thats fueling a surge in rural economies and helping the farming sector, you know the ones that put food on your tables, go to it, take this oportunity to protest stick it to them in whatever government body is responsible for the feet dragging.
