Pitching for Ethanol

Ethanol hit a home run at the Iowa Cubs game last night in Des Moines.

With the help of Renewable Fuels Association chairman Chris Standlee of Abengoa Bioenergy throwing out the first pitch, the Iowa Cubs beat Oklahoma City RedHawks 8-5 Wednesday night in front of 9,088 fans on Ethanol Night at Principal Park.

The promotional event featured ethanol information and displays, ethanol t-shirts and giveaways. Ethanol industry leaders from Iowa and around the nation attending the event, which was held in conjunction with RFA’s quarterly board meeting being held in Des Moines this week.

Looks like it was lots of fun for everyone – see all the photos here in the RFA Flickr Photo Album from the event.

There are so many good qualities of fuel ethanol that the general public knows not a thing about. My Toyota Tacoma runs on E-85 and mileage is slightly below the EPA estimate in town traffic and slightly above on the freeways. I had the Mobile One oil changed at 20K miles of use tho it was not dirty. NGK plugs were clean but needed more heat for cold wx starts so in went PulStars. Bore scope showed the engine was so clean, the mechanics could read the numbers on top of the piston! Mechanics know little more than other drivers about E-85 and it is fun to introduce them and flatten the Big Oil propaganda. Just a delight. So rather than preach to the choir, more public info has to be made. Here in AZ, we are controlled (in my opinion) by a fuel baron that is, in my opinion, an unregulated monoply. Just too big to fight. Wish the thoughtfull and progressive Midwesterners (I was born in KS) our very best. They lead the Nation at this point.
