Getting Started In Phoenix

Chevy E85 TahoeI’m in Phoenix and ready for the fun to begin. Today is set-up day here at the Clean Cities Congress & Expo. That’s why you’ll see vehicles like this Chevrolet Tahoe parked outside prior to going to the trade show floor.

It’s also Cinco de Mayo festival time in downtown Phoenix. I know that was yesterday but the party is today. I also just found out that game 7 of the Phoenix/LA NBA playoffs is here tonight too. It’s definitely going to be a crowded downtown.

Media Training At Clean Cities

Clean Cities Congress & ExpoThe Clean Cities Congress & Expo is about to kick off and so is our coverage here on Domestic Fuel. One of the organizations exhibiting at the show is the National Biodiesel Board. I just visited their office yesterday since I’ll be helping NBB Director of Communications, Jenna Higgins, with a media training workshop on Sunday and we were looking at some camera equipment. So I asked her a couple questions about why the NBB is involved and what she’ll be teaching her workshop participants.

Phoenix Flex Fuel

E85 can now be sold in the greater Phoenix area. Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano recently signed a bill into law that will allow the alternative fuel to be available throughout Maricopa County, according to a release from the National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition.
“Our deep appreciation is extended to Representative Boone and his associates, as well as Weights and Measures, and the Legislative Staff for an important, well crafted and well needed piece of legislation,” said Colleen Crowninshield, Clean Cities Coordinator of the Tucson Regional Clean Cities Coalition. Good thing – since the Clean Cities Congress will be held in Phoenix May 7-10.

Blogging The Clean Cities Congress

Clean Cities CongressI’m happy to announce that I’ll be blogging the Clean Cities Congress in just a few short weeks. The event takes place May 7 – 10 in Phoenix, AZ.

Alternative Fuel Vehicle InstituteThe Alternative Fuel Vehicle Institute (AFVI) and its industry partners present unparalleled education and networking opportunities for fleet and policy professionals when it hosts its annual Clean Cities Congress and Expo at the Phoenix Convention Center, May 7-10, 2006.

“This showcase of alternative fuels and vehicles is a solutions-oriented marketplace,” says Annalloyd Thomason, AFVI Executive Director and organizer of the conference. “It is intentionally inclusive of all viable alternative fuels and advanced vehicle technologies that provide money-saving options for fleets.” The annual Congress features more than 100 speakers and is expected to draw 1,500 participants for 3 days of activities including: workshops, sessions, lectures, networking, a free public forum, and a trade show for industry professionals. The industry partners, official sponsors of the Congress, recommend the event for commercial, utility, and government fleets.

Southern California Gas CompanyIn addition to the AFVI, Southern California Gas Company is sponsoring Domestic Fuel coverage of the Clean Cities Congress. We really appreciate their support and plan to bring you a lot more information before, during and after the event.

Clean Cities Congress

Clean Cities Alternative fuels and advanced transportation technologies will be featured at the Clean Cities Congress and Expo 2006, which will be held May 7-10, in Phoenix, Arizona. The theme of this year’s Congress is “Fueling Economic Solutions” with a focus on cost-savings for alternative fuel fleets. “With oil prices nearing $70 a barrel, fleets are taking a financial hit,” said Will Kleindienst, chairman of the 2006 Congress. “Because of substantial incentives in the energy bill and the new cost competitiveness of alternative fuels, we’re attracting potential customers who never even considered using alternative fuels before.” Registration and other information is available on-line.
